02月17日：This party needs an icebreaker.这个派对需要有个人来打破僵局。

aker：n. 原意为破冰船，引申意为缓和拘谨气氛的事物（或行为举止）
例如：A subtle joke is always a good icebreaker.（一个巧妙的笑话总能打破冷场的局面。）
          The icebreaker hacked up the ice to free the ship.（破冰船把冰劈碎使船解脱出来。）

02月18日：Every cloud has a silver lining!黑暗中总有一线光明！

lining：乌云周围的白光；（不幸或失望中的）一线希望
例如：Every cloud has a silver lining.（乌云朵朵衬白底，黑夜漫漫有尽头。）
          Every cloud has a silver lining indeed!（任何事情的确都有好的一面啊！）

02月19日：You have no other way out of this.你逃不掉了。

other way out：别无他法，没有别的出路
例如：For the people there is no other way out.（全国人民除此以外，再无出路。）
          Eventually, and solely because there was no other way out he permitted her to come to him.（后来，只是因为别无他法，他才允许她来找他。）

02月20日：I am just trying to get a glimpse of your new office.我只是想看一眼你新的办公室。

1.glimpse：n. 一瞥，一看；显现，少许
例如：He caught a glimpse of her before she vanished into the crowd.（他看见她一闪就在人群中消失了。）
          I caught a glimpse of our new neighbor.（我们的新邻居我只看过一眼。）

02月21日：The sunset is so stunning!日落真美！

ng：adj. 令人震惊的，绝妙的，极好的
例如：She had been a stunning girl.（她从前是一个非常漂亮的姑娘。）
          You look stunning in your new suit.（你穿着这套新衣服真漂亮。） 

02月22日：Your explanation doesn’t hold water.你的解释站不住脚。

water：站得住脚，合情合理，说得通
例如：Your story just doesn't hold water.（你说的不合情理。）
          I'm afraid that argument doesn't hold water.（恐怕那个论点是站不住脚的。）

02月23日：My neighbor is a cold fish.我的邻居是一个冷漠的人。

fish：态度冷淡的人
例如：The old man's a real cold fish. I've never seen him laugh.（这个老头是个冷冰冰的人，我从来没看到他笑过。）
          My date was a cold fish. We hardly talked at all.（我的舞伴一副冷冰冰的样子。我们几乎没讲什么话。）
