08月27日：The contract was declared null and void.合同被宣布无效。

and void：无效，作废
例如：The court ruled that the claim was null and void.（法庭裁决此项要求无效。）
          The contract become null and void when these document is surrendered.（当这些文件被放弃时合同变得无效。）

08月28日：If you would only try, you could do it.只要你肯尝试，你一定能做这件事。

：v. 试图，尝试，试验
例如：He finally screwed up enough courage to try to dive.（他终于鼓足了勇气试着跳水。）
          He tried hard to adapt himself to the new conditions.（他努力使自己适应新的情况。）

08月29日：You can never turn back the clock.时光不能倒流。

1.turn back：使原路返回，往回走
例如：It is still not too late to turn back into the right path.（返回正道为时不晚。）
          We were turned back at the frontier.（我们在边界那儿被赶了回来。）

08月30日：The company has gone into administration.这个公司已经被政府托管。

1.go into：进入，从事，参加，开始…生涯，深入研究，详谈
例如：He is smart enough to go into business.（他有经商的才智。）
          It would take a long time to go into all the details.（要谈所有的细节需要花很长的时间。）

08月31日：We decided to splash out on a holiday abroad this year.我们决定今年花一大笔钱去国外度假。

out：溅出，随意花钱，大肆挥霍
例如：The water splash out of the tub upon the floor.（水从缸里飞溅出来，落在地板上。）
          She splashed out $1500 on a camera.（她满不在乎地花一千五百美元买了一架照相机。）

09月01日：The football team was relegated.足球队被降级了。

te：v. 把…降级，交付，托付，把…归类
例如：Everyone was surprised when the football team was relegated to a lower division.（每个人都为足球队降级而大吃一惊。）
          Mr. Taylor relegates his project to his son after he have ret.（泰勒先生退休后把他的事业移转给儿子。）

09月02日：He didn't yield himself to his rival.他没有向对手屈服。

：v. 屈服，投降，出产
例如：She yielded to temptation and had another chocolate.（她禁不住诱惑，又吃了一块巧克力。）
          These apple trees yield plenty of fruit this year.（这些苹果树今年结了许多苹果。）
